e-r-s group GmbH plans, supplies, and installs refractory linings for industrial plants with high operating temperatures – from waste incineration to aluminium melting furnaces. We cover the entire scope of services: engineering, prefabrication at our Klötze facility, on-site installation, controlled dry-out and ongoing service. Customers from the energy, chemical, steel and metal industries work with us because we deliver everything from a single source and are operational across Europe.

Our refractory solutions are used wherever high thermal, mechanical and chemical resistance is required. This includes applications such as municipal and hazardous waste incineration, biomass and combined heat and power plants, fluidised bed installations, the aluminium and galvanising industries, chemical and petrochemical plants, animal feed production, annealing furnaces, graphitising lines, carbon black reactors and superheaters. For each application we select the appropriate material system – refractory concrete, fireclay brick, ceramic fibre or microporous insulation.

The service life of a refractory lining depends heavily on the temperature profile, chemical stress and operating regime. In biomass power plants, operators typically expect revisions on an annual cycle; in aluminium melting furnaces, linings can last several years. The decisive factors are correct material selection, proper installation, and controlled dry-out. We evaluate every plant individually and recommend the most economical lining concept based on operational data.

We manufacture and supply the full spectrum: refractory concretes, refractory and insulating bricks, lightweight refractory bricks, high-temperature wool, microporous insulation boards, calcium silicate boards (e.isol), vermiculite boards (e.vip), formed parts (e.cast), tube protection plates (e.Top), cements and mortars (e.glue / e.mortar), rigidizers and coatings (e.coat) as well as metal anchors. All materials undergo continuous laboratory testing as part of our ISO 9001:2015 quality management system.

Refractory concrete is supplied as a castable form (liquid) and can be cast or pumped into complex geometries – ideal for angled combustion chambers, shafts and formed parts. Fireclay bricks are pre-fired, dimensionally stable and laid as masonry. They are suitable where uniform geometry and high mechanical resistance are required. In many plants we combine both systems: masonry areas where abrasion dominates, cast areas where thermal cycling and shape are decisive.

After installation, refractory concretes and mortars still contain residual moisture. If a plant is started up too quickly, steam pressure builds up inside the material – resulting in cracks, spalling or premature failure of the lining. We carry out controlled dry-out for every new installation using a documented temperature programme, often over several days, with our own mobile drying units. This safeguards the service life of the lining and protects your investment.

Yes. Thanks to our central warehouse in Klötze and the stocks at our European subsidiaries, we can respond very quickly during shutdowns. We maintain framework agreements with logistics partners available 24/7 and have our own well-coordinated installation teams. In the event of unplanned shutdowns, our goal is always to return your plant to operation with minimal downtime.

Our headquarters are in Klötze (Saxony-Anhalt). We have our own subsidiaries in Poland (Komorniki/Wrocław), the Netherlands (Swifterbant), Hungary (Marcali), Portugal (Santarém), Romania (Brasov), Austria (Vienna) and Switzerland (Hunzenschwil). This allows us to provide full coverage across Central Europe, and we regularly work in neighbouring countries as well. Language, logistics and certification are aligned with each region.

A project begins with your enquiry and a technical survey – often directly on site. This is followed by engineering: material selection, lining concept, quantities and scheduling. Where appropriate, we prefabricate components (Prefab), deliver material and personnel to the site, install the lining and dry it out under controlled conditions. At the end we hand over the documentation. On request, we also support your plant during ongoing maintenance.

Because material alone does not yet make a working refractory lining. We combine engineering, in-house production, prefabrication, installation and dry-out within one company – and we have personnel who know exactly how a biomass boiler, an aluminium furnace or a fluidised bed installation behaves thermally and mechanically. You receive from us not just a product, but a fully installed, tested and documented solution – from a single source and with one contracting partner for planning, supply and installation.

e-r-s group GmbH works in accordance with the applicable standards for refractory construction, welding technology and occupational safety. These include quality management according to DIN EN ISO 9001, environmental management according to DIN EN ISO 14001, as well as industry-specific qualifications for welding and installation personnel. Refractory construction should be visually inspected at least once a year – in heavily stressed plants at significantly shorter intervals. We recommend regular condition assessments with measurement of residual lining thickness. Our service team supports you with inspection, assessment and maintenance planning – either as a one-off measure or as part of a service agreement.
